Study on Consumers’ Preference and Price Premium for Organic Vegetables in Budhanilkantha Municipality Kathmandu Valley

Paying regard to the increasing concern of consumers towards nutrients-loaded food products and agriculture sustainability, main aim this paper is assess consumers’ willingness pay price premium for organic vegetables know their perception in Budhanilkantha-8 municipality, Kathmandu. A total 100 respondents were randomly surveyed using a questionnaire. The first part questionnaire included demographic section, while second part, asked about vegetable consumption. survey revealed that 28% willing 0-10% compared inorganic vegetables. Similarly, 24% 20-30% premium. Some (22%) 10-20% premium, 9% liked 30-40% 1% 40-50% 8% greater than 50% denied paying even case product availability. was health properties, followed by freshness taste. Few factors, such as low availability, trust, lack information, high price, considered barriers purchasing also suggested consumption increasing; however, stimulate further demand its consumption, huge production timely credible certification, processing, packaging are needed be promoted.
